Blend Architects was commissioned to undertake RIBA Stage 4 works on a large detached Victorian property in Shrewsbury. Works include a contemporary two-storey rear extension, with the addition of sensitive internal restorations to the existing building.
Part of our brief was to revisit and reconfigure the approved layouts to ensure that key spaces benefitted from natural daylight. We successfully adapted the ground floor layout to include an additional living area, large roof lights and integrated storage whilst retaining the open plan kitchen/dining area.
The master bedroom benefits from uninterrupted garden views thanks to oversized glazing, vaulted ceilings and a frameless glass balustrade. Red brick reclaimed from the demolished outbuildings contrast with vertical timber cladding, providing a contemporary addition to a traditional property.
The project is on-site and due for completion Summer 2023.
