Blend Architects was commissioned to undertake RIBA Stage 1-4 services for a large single-storey rear extension and internal reconfiguration works to a private dwelling on the edge of the Greenbelt in South Staffordshire.
The brief for this project was to maximise open-plan living to the rear of the property, improve the flow of the existing house and maximise views of the open countryside. Our proposal developed a strategy to maximise glazing to the rear elevation whilst being considerate of solid and structural elements. Our design proposed a number of sizeable solid brick piers and slender brick columns to allow for fixed and openable windows.
Planning approval was granted in late 2022, and the project is due for completion in September 2023.
